Swaddling in hot weather

Swaddling in hot weather

Australian summers are getting hotter. And the question is, should we still swaddle our babies to sleep? Won't it get too hot especially with no air conditioning?

Choosing the right material is key to summer swaddling. Muslin is a breathable summer fabric that allows ventilation, the ideal choice to swaddle baby but keep them cool.

If the folding layers of the muslin blanket is still too warm for babies, consider using muslin swaddles made of 100% bamboo viscose.

Swaddling in hot weather muslin blankets

Bamboo muslin swaddles are made from ultra-sheer and cool fabric that is lighter than cotton. In hotter days, it's OK for babies to wear nothing but a diaper beneath the swaddle. See our range of organic cotton and natural bamboo muslin wraps for your little one to sleep in.

Try to avoid synthetic fabrics and wraps with a lining to prevent overheating. If you think your baby is overheating, offer your baby more fluids, take baby to a cooler room and sponge baby in cooler water.

Keeping your baby comfortable in hot weather can be a challenge. Babies are more sensitive to heat than adults and they can get sick quickly if they get too hot. Try to avoid putting them in direct sunlight, and dress them in lightweight clothes that will allow their skin to breathe. You can also give them a cold wet cloth to chew on or splash water on their face and body.

And don’t forget to drink plenty of fluids yourself, especially if you’re breastfeeding! Taking these steps will help make sure your baby is happy and healthy during the summer months. Keep on reading to find out the best tips to keep your baby cool in warm weather.
